Theatre

Al-Arz’s theatre section has played a pivotal role in discovering and fostering the talent of Lebanese theatre artists. It has strong roots in Ottawa with solid base of theatre artists that pursue their love for Lebanese theatre since 1977. These established artists embody the personalities of frivolous and serious characters that transport us to another world where the real and surreal collide, separate and reunite.

Accustomed to the adaptation style of Al-Arz these theatre artists have received recognition across Canada for their rendering of various roles set in the traditions of Lebanese musicals, operettas and satirical plays that have been developed and nurtured by the ingenuity of the Rahbani Brothers.

While Al-Arz is known for its loyalty to mounting the stage works of the Rahbani Brothers, it has also created stage works inspired by world class writer, philosopher and visual artist Gibran Kahlil Gibran, and playwright and artistic director Roméo Lahoud.

Al-Arz is open to co-productions and often cooperates with other arts organization in Canada and the United States to bring Lebanese theatre to as many spectators possible.
